Memin vs Places Scout

Places Scout does far more. Memin does one thing defensibly.

Places Scout has been on the market since 2011 as a comprehensive local SEO package: rank tracking on both Google and Bing, preset grid sizes, competitor intelligence across hundreds of data points, and white-label reporting. Memin does a far narrower job. This page is about when that narrowness is an advantage and when it is a shortfall.

The honest answer

Which one is right for you

When Places Scout is the better choice

When you want breadth. If you need Bing tracking too, Memin has no answer — we measure Google Maps only. Deep competitor intelligence, seeing organic and local rankings in one place, and managing many keywords and locations from a single panel are where Places Scout is strong. The maturity that comes from years on the market is not nothing either.

When Memin is the better choice

When you want a report you can defend rather than a broad toolbox. Every rule in Memin serves one question: when the client asks "how do you know this", do you have an answer? Unmeasurable fields aren't counted as missing, competitor comparison uses the median, and every finding carries the measurement behind it. The scope is narrow — but inside it you can stand behind every sentence. The report is also available in Turkish and English.

FAQ

Questions we get

If Places Scout does more, why Memin?

Because "more measurement" and "a defensible report" are not the same thing. Collecting more data points does not stop an unmeasurable field being reported to a client as a fault. Which you need depends on who sees the output.

Is Bing tracking actually necessary?

For most local businesses, no — the bulk of search volume is on Google. But since ChatGPT draws its search results from the Bing index, Bing means something different than it used to. If that matters to you, Places Scout's advantage is real.
