Nextdoor business page

Nextdoor is a neighbourhood social network, and a business page is free. What makes it different from the other directories: visibility here comes from neighbours recommending each other, not from a search result.

Why

Why this is the most valuable listing on the list — for some businesses

Nextdoor is not equally valuable for every business, and that is worth saying upfront. For an e-commerce site, or a consultant whose clients never visit, it is close to worthless. But for a plumber, gardener, locksmith, vet or childminder — the kind of work people look for by asking someone nearby — a single neighbour's recommendation can bring in more work than dozens of directory listings. The test is simple: do your customers ask people they know, or do they ask Google?

Steps

How to get listed

  1. 1

Create a free business page at business.nextdoor.com.

  2. 2

Enter your business address. Because Nextdoor works by location, the address matters more here than on other directories — it decides which neighbourhoods see you.

  3. 3

Pick your category and service area, then complete the page with photos and a description.

  4. 4

Ask existing customers to leave a recommendation on Nextdoor. The page's strength comes entirely from this.

Watch out: you cannot recommend your own business

Nextdoor is built on accounts tied to real home addresses and is strict about fake recommendations. An owner praising themselves from their personal account, staff writing recommendations, or discounts offered in exchange for one can get the page suspended. On other directories a nudge may go unpunished; here the community reports it themselves.
